The passage of California’s Proposition 8 on November 4th was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

We will no longer tolerate hateful religious homophobes hiding in their headquarters in Utah and using the gay and lesbian community as their punching bag.

We are saying enough is enough!

We are fighting back!

Our opponents have seriously underestimated our community, our relationships, our resolve, our strength....and us.

While they have the right to attempt to spread their disgusting bigoted diatribe, we are, once-and-for-all, done helping them fund it.

There are no second-class citizens in our society. “Separate-but-equal” is certainly separate, but definitely not equal, (and not constitutional either). Civil rights that are available for some members of our nation, are available to all members of our nation.

Marriage, with all its attendant rights and responsibilities, is a civil right that should be as available to same-sex couples, as it is to opposite-sex couples.

If you support civil unions….you support same-sex marriage.

If you support domestic partnership….you support same-sex marriage.

If you support some rights for gay and lesbians, you support all rights for gays and lesbians.

It's time we held Utah accountable for the hate and bigotry it gladly exports to the rest of our union.

This is not a boycott – we have many friends and family members that work in the film industry. We want the Sundance Film Festival to be successful and its attendees to enjoy themselves….in one of the other 49 other states that don't headquarter a tax-free religious institution that besieged its follows to give $22 million dollars in an effort to demean the lives of gays and lesbians.

THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL CAN NO LONGER COUNT ON THE SUPPORT, ECONOMIC OR OTHERWISE, OF EITHER GAY PEOPLE WHO WORK IN THE FILM INDUSTRY, OR THEIR FAIR-MINDED STRAIGHT FRIENDS, AS LONG AS IT IS HELD IN UTAH.

Mormons' history DEMANDS that they show tolerance toward others' marriage beliefs. Anything less is shameful and unacceptable.

IT IS NOW TIME FOR HOLLYWOOD TO STOP FUNDING HATE AND BIGOTRY, AND MOVE THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL TO ANOTHER STATE!
